Fuelsoft's roots go back further than the fuel industry itself: the earliest version of what we built was general CLI accounting software for a handful of businesses, including a butcher's. That changed in 1982, when David Kingsman joined and brought Silwood Petroleum on board as our first fuel-industry customer. Everything since (entering the fuel-card sector in 1993, the 2000 rebuild on Microsoft's stack, the 2009 shift to the cloud) has been in service of that one relationship's lesson: build for how depots and drivers actually work.
We're a small, specialist team based in Birmingham, led by CEO Darren Priddy, servicing clients from Donegal to Cornwall to the Highlands of Scotland. We don't do generic. Every line of code we write is sharpened against a real fuel-industry problem.

- The beginning-1982
General accounting software
Before fuel, the business (then Compuserve) wrote a wide variety of Unix CLI applications across a range of industries, including a butcher's, fishmongers, greengrocers, stationers and more.
- 1982
First fuel-industry customer
David Kingsman joined the business and brought Silwood Petroleum on board, the company's first customer in fuel distribution. Compuserve went on to build two separate fuel systems before specialising in the fuel industry.
- 1989
First Fuel Oil News advert
Formal entry into the fuel trade press. Regency Oils, generated through that advertising, remains a customer to this day.
- 1993
Enters the fuel card sector
Integrated with Keyfuels, UK Fuels, Securicor and the major oil companies from day one of the fuel card market.
- 2000
Management buyout
David Kingsman led a buyout of the business, opening the door to rebuilding the software from scratch on Microsoft's platform.
- 2001
First fuel card application launched
Launched at the Fuel Card seminar; Truckhaven became the first company to implement it.
- 2002
Web-based account management launched
The fuel card portal (a web-based account management application) went live.
- 2004
First fuel distribution customer
AID Fuel Oils became the first fuel distributor to install the Fuelsoft application.
- 2005
Bought out by CH Jones
Compuserve Live was acquired by CH Jones.
- 2007
Bought back and rebranded to Fuelsoft
Bought back from CH Jones and incorporated as Fuelsoft Ltd 8 February 2007 (Co. #06090761), probably the single biggest driver of the company's later success.
- 2008
Glyn Highfield joins as Technical Director
Convinced the software should run as a service, setting the direction for the move to the cloud.
- 2009
First customer live in the cloud
Stephens Oil became the first customer to run Fuelsoft from the cloud, moving the business to a pay-as-you-go model.
- 2010
Neil Smith joins as Operations Director
Drove the deeper integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM that followed.
- 2011
Microsoft Dynamics CRM launched
A fully integrated telesales front end for fuel card agents.
- 2014
Sales order processing redesigned
Rebuilt to run natively within Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
- 2015
LPG module introduced
A new LPG module shipped as E-UK became the 25th company to run Fuelsoft in the cloud.
- 2017
Balcas and New Era Fuels join
Both switch to Fuelsoft.
- 2019
New Birmingham offices
Fuelsoft moved into new offices just outside Birmingham as the team grew, with Robert Taylor, Neil Smith and Glyn Highfield joining the board.
- 2020
ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified
Fuelsoft becomes ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001:2013 certified.

Backed by Rose Street Partners
Daniel Skyte, CEO of Rose Street Partners, joins the board as director as the firm invests in Fuelsoft's next chapter.

Routesoft launched
A dedicated route-planning and delivery scheduling solution for fuel distribution operations.

Darren Priddy becomes CEO
